Email List-Lingo: Common
Terminology & Definitions
Archives: A web based copy of every Email that has been posted
through a list.
Banned: To be excluded from a list and not allowed to rejoin or
participate.
Cross Posting: This is bad. It means to post to two or more lists
at the same time. It's usually quite annoying.
De-Lurk: To stop "Listening" and start posting.
Footer: The bottom of each post. This is appended on the bottom
of each Email sent through a list automatically by the list server.

List-Charter: The purpose of the list.
List-Manager: Who is responsible for daily list management duties.
List-Moderator: Who is responsible for moderating the list, and
keeping it on topic.
List-Owner: Who owns the list.
Lurk: To "Listen" for a while before you participate.
List-Server: The software that runs a list.
Newbie: What you are until you have a clue.
On-Topic: Means to keep your post on the same topic as the lists
charter.
Post: To "Post" means to send an Email to the list.
SHOUTING: When you Email in ALL CAPS, that is considered YELLING!
Subscription Address: The Email address you write to, in order
to join or leave a list.
Welcome Message: The initial Email you receive when you join a
list. It includes the lists purpose, policies, how to get on and off the
list, how to post, the URL for the list archive or website, and who the
list owner is.
URL: Uniform Resource Locator, AKA: the website address.
