If you use a good quality ball bearing fan, it should last a LONG time.
Good quality ball bearing fans lasted about 3 years in my Redline
AN-50 indoor units before they seized. I suspect that they would
have a shorter life in an outdoor environment with temperature
extremes at both ends.
These were 40mm fans so I didn't expect them to live long since the
rpms are higher. You should be able to get longer life from a 120mm
fan running at slower rpms.
And even better life from a non-rotating heatsink. :)

99+% of fan failures I've seen over the years were dirt in unsealed
sleeve bearings.
If the board has fan connectors, it would be interesting to see
if it supports fans with tach leads (ala a PC motherboard) and if
it's capable of alarming a failed or failing fan.

Yes, they fit (just barely). I'm wondering about putting a fan on
the hinged front door with a cover over the outside and have the
air blow out. I think it would work, just wondering how long it
will last during the winter.

Wow, that is going to be tight, isn't it? Didn't realize a RB333
would fit in a DCE. Certainly no room for a fan of any size.
I haven't looked very much for fans as all my RB333s are in open
air, so I can not help there.

Any suggestions for a fan that will work on a DCE case that will
also plug into a 333 board?

Maybe that is why the RB333 has fan controls on it. Try a fan
or two as the card has automatic failover if the primary fan dies.

Hi,
With temps now hitting 95F in the late afternoon, we are seeing
several RB333 boards shut down and/or reboot. Once it cools
down they go back to running fine. We have seen 5 boards out of
50 we have installed fail. They are all in DCE cases. Just
wanted to share with everyone in case they are seeing strange
problems with these boards.
