Haven't seen it with EtherAnts, but we only have a few of those. We have, however, been seeing this exact problem with Tranzeos (of which we have a ton) and older 3Com ECBs with Orinoco Silvers. Primarily, it seems to be Netgear routers doing this, but we have also seen it happen with D-Link and others. We also saw this happen once with a Linksys WAP-11, which is not G, obviously, but did seem to do the same thing. We have had to move several customers off 802.11 entirely to get their connections solid, due to this, and it's beginning to become a costly pain. I don't believe that it's an Agere issue, since we have seen it with Prism-based clients. I think that it's likely this is a problem with the routers which are doing this hijacking, rather than the client. Perhaps Netgear (and others) decided that the concept of SSIDs is too much for the average user to understand, and assume that every client around could only possibly want to connect to their crappy routers. (just like they assume that PPPoE PADIs don't need a Host-Uniq tag, argh) Perhaps YDI, Tranzeo, and all the others can do something to prevent / fix this, but I don't think they _caused_ this. --Eric Eric Flanery Wireless Manager FirstStep Internet (208)882-8869 On Thu, 7 Oct 2004, Marty Dougherty wrote: > We discovered a serious issue with the YDI EtherAnt's in the past few > weeks and want to know if others who are using these are seeing the same > problem yet.
