[isp-wireless] 900 wireless
We just got back from the Wispcon show in Dallas and saw the new Trango, 2.4 and 900 systems. Pricing was told to be around the $575 for 900 mhz. All Poe is Cat 5 with radio in antenna end. Also radio will switch to external antenna via sma female connector if needed. +27 dBm, -88 dBm @ 3 Mbps and -91 @1.5 Mbs. Max. 128 SU's per AP. Dual polarized antennas. Very heavy duty cast frame. Looked nice. WaveRider also now has a drive study test software included in their package using Microsoft Streets w/gps for accurate mapping of signal strength in all areas of drive study. Unfortunately on our end, I cannot see how we can make either 900 mhz system work out on paper financially with the CPE costing that much. Most all who attended agreed that CPE needs to be no more than $300 max. Leasing for 3 years figured out too risky for us considering how fast this technology is changing. Also, with only 1 year warranty, who wants to put another $500 radio back into CPE if it fails? We are going to wait for some price drops before deploying. May go 2.4 ghz for now.
