I have been looking to this also. What would be a good outbound speed that most users would not complain about? 1K/sec seems to be way to low. That way you're actually helping your customers get better service while not limiting them in the things they want to do. We are now restricting all P2P traffic to 512k. You can still download but not too fast. We have 12mb/s of total bandwidth, 512 is not too big a chunk. -----Original Message----- From: Ty [mailto:ty@len-net.com] Sent: Thursday, October 30, 2003 6:56 PM To: isp-wireless@isp-wireless.com Subject: [isp-wireless] Re: P2P blocking and Mikrotik I'm not sure how you can do this for long and get away with it. My customers wouldn't stand for it long. You must not have much other competion in your area. If I did this all of my customers would run for the DSL and cable in the area. We are blocking P2P file sharing and the results have been very entertaining. People will not actually call up and tell you that Kazaa is not working. It is the "Internet" has stopped working... Or I cannot get to the sites that I need. We have had one customer cancel... Traffic during the daytime has remained the same essentially, but evening and weekend traffic is 25-30% lower.
