RE: [isp-marketing] Article
Amen to that. How many times on the this list or the CEO list have you seen
folks trying to get things moving...LOL and most recently I have tried to
put a group of Embarq DSL resellers together for both efficiency but more
importantly establish a national sales presence for Sprint DSL coverage. Ha
like talking to the trees, 1st you can't get them to agree on a standard
access option, then you can't get them to agree on a wholesale price etc.
etc. etc. Nothing has changed since the nineties you still can't get 2
ISP's to agree on anything and you still can't get there head out of the
sand. Those that have some degree of success with there venture don't care
and the rest are just milking what they have left until they finally sell
out and become part of the consolidation.

Thank you;

Brock,

It is a good article.

Unfortunately, the people active on this listserve and people who read
ISP-Planet, my blog or attend ISPCON are not the typical ISP. Those
guys don't read and don't get out as they bemoan the death of their
income stream.

I am writing after spending a half day at an ISP Association meeting
with less than 30 ISP's represented because the other 70 are ostriches.
You can't tell them they have issues because they don't want to hear it.
Like the ones who have profitable segments of the business funding the
unprofitable ISP but just can't let it go.

I learned a few years ago to talk to those that listen because you
cannot jerk anyone's head out of the sand.

If the industry got it, ISPCON would be jammed, this list would be
really busy, and the dupoly would be confounded. There is plenty of
evidence to the contrary.

Ciao!

Peter
