Russ, Prior to the 3rd Quarter rankings of 2002 http://isp-planet.com/research/rankings/usa_history_q32002.html, ISP Planet was using Cyber Atlas' estimate of 149 million subscribers. Starting from their 4th Quarter 2002, http://isp-planet.com/research/rankings/2003/usa_history_q42002.html rankings they were using Jupiter Research estimates of 74.3 million as the basis point to calculate from. Now check here at Click Z's, http://www.clickz.com/stats/big_picture/geographics/article.php/5911_151151 and you get other estimates. Nielsen's shows 138.80 million users as of June 2004, at home. Additional information can be found here at http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3328091 about USA stats. So that being said, what is the best case data available to use to draw a conclusion from? Most business plans I have seen or have done research for, use the Neilsen's ratings. Draw your own conclusions on what stats to consider.
