Because a "do not spam list" is just like a "do not call list".  It 
gives the dirt balls your valid address so they can send/call you 
anyway.  I mean, come on.. look at the anti-fax laws.  How many people 
have successfully sued and won judgments for unsolicited faxes?  There 
is a simple solution to the problem, and do not spam lists or requiring 
a valid email address are not the answers.
