If by different resources your saying that www.domain.com is on the outside but mail.domain.com is on the inside then this should not be a problem. You can make your NS authoritive for domain.com and specify another external NS as authoritive for mail.domain.com -----Original Message----- From: Michael Malitsky [mailto:malitsky@...] Sent: 27 September 2007 17:49 To: isp-dns@isp-dns.com Subject: [isp-dns] Split DNS Hello, We are fighting with the following problem: we are running split DNS, internal and external on different sides of a NAT boundary. Requests coming from the "inside" get internal addresses, and requests coming from the "outside" get global addresses, and life is great. Except in the situation when our servers are not authoritative for the domain, but we host a certain resource on the "inside". To have proper resolution for that hosted resource for the internal users, we have to put the domain and the resource in our internal DNS file. That in turn precludes all other records (for resources not managed or hosted by us) in the domain from being resolvable, since our internal file is a) authoritative for the domain, and b) doesn't have the records. Then we end up having to replicate ALL of the records in the internal file, which in turn leads to management problems. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
