[doon@...
mail.yahoo.com is a nickname for login.yahoo.com
login.yahoo.com is a nickname for login.yahoo.akadns.net
login.yahoo.akadns.net has address 216.109.127.60

[doon@...
www.mail.yahoo.com is a nickname for rc.yahoo.com
rc.yahoo.com is a nickname for w1.rc.vip.scd.yahoo.com
w1.rc.vip.scd.yahoo.com has address 66.218.71.198
w1.rc.vip.scd.yahoo.com mail is handled (pri=1) by nomail.yahoo.com

Looks like they are both defined :)

Does this happen with all browsers? Or just one browser? Could it be that the
browser or some plugin is doing something behind your back. IE they must have
meant this and are a standard user and figured everything on the web needs to
have www in front of it. The reason I ask is you say the same thing works
for every site. So that makes me think something else is doing something
funny. Ie if I look at my website. Http://patrick.muldoon.us/ resolves.
while http://www.patrick.muldoon.us/ comes up with not found. If you where to
go to those sites, do both work?

The reason the real name was asked for is we could query dns to give you a
better answer as opposed to wildly speculating (Which can be fun, but
sometime not very productive).

Also do you have any wildcards in your dns zone?

Hope this helps,

-Patrick
