[isp-dns] Re: is www.hostname.domain.com same as hostname.domain.com

How is a real name going to make difference ?

For e.g if you type http://mail.yahoo.com (which i think is the true
hostname) points to the yahoo webmail, but even if you type
http://www.mail.yahoo.com (which most home users and non-technical ppl do)
still it points to the same address.

The same thing works for any site, and I think yahoo has probably not
defined www.mail.yahoo.com as the hostname in DNS (I might be wrong), still
it works.

Atleast I have not defined that in my DNS as www.hostname.domain.com, still
it works for all our site. Thats the reason I asked the question.
