Hi Joann, In order to host a domain outside of the DoC root zone all you need to do is set it up on your server just like you would any other domain name. If you're curious, a friend of ours set up this engine so you can see the other known top level domains throughout the internet and where the zone servers are at: http://root-dns.org/vuedig.htm In this case, if you type in 'sport' you actually have two choices. The original .sport TLD was/is managed by Pacific Root and the one at new.net came later. Once you see the choices you find that the one at Pacific Root does not have a bsf.sport domain but the one at new.net does as below: [shore][blackhole][18:20:03][~]$ dig @tld4.newdotnet.net bsf.sport ; <<>> DiG 9.1.1 <<>> @tld4.newdotnet.net bsf.sport ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 19303 ;; flags: qr rd; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 2, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;bsf.sport. IN A ;; AUTHORITY SECTION: bsf.sport. 7200 IN NS ns2.domainnameservers.net. bsf.sport. 7200 IN NS ns.domainnameservers.net. ;; Query time: 321 msec ;; SERVER: 204.74.101.253#53(tld4.newdotnet.net) ;; WHEN: Mon Jul 7 18:20:42 2003 ;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 83 But still no unusual action is required on your part. People who are able and know how to resolve the domain just look at your servers to find it just like they would a .com, .net, .cc, etc. I'm not sure where or if new.net has a port 43 whois server. I can see if I can find out if you'd like. We resolve some of the new.net TLDs here and our port 43 answers for them also...but in this case we resolve the Pacific Root .sport since it was created first. Any other questions, feel free to ask...this is what I do :) -=Dena Whitebirch=- "Internet Powered by Experience" http://quasar.net/ On Fri, 4 Jul 2003, jramer wrote: > Hello; > > Does anyone know about the tld .sport?
