If you are getting an error message that looks like "Lame server on 'www.foo.com' (in 'FOO.com'?) [xx.xx.xx.xx].xx 'NS.SOMEWHERE.COM', than that means that your name server queried the nameserver NS.SOMEWHERE.COM because it was told that it was authoritative for FOO.COM - however, NS.SOMEWHERE.COM was not authoritative for FOO.COM, thus it is a "lame delegation". In effect, it means that someone (not you) has their nameserver misconfigured.
