We were not any sort of authority for that domain. I should not have toThe TTL is controlled by whoever is in charge of the zone (your customer in this case). Unless something truly was wrong (which seems to be common with MS DNS, but not bind), your DNS server was just waiting for the TTL to reach 0. So it was behaving exactly as your customer designed it to.I think something was wrong. Perhaps I am just a pessimist. Unfortunately, since you've restarted bind, there is no way to go back and see if there really was a problem.
