I am in the same boat :) But we hardly have an over abundance of CPU power.. Not in all cases. Mod_gzip compresses html output and gets better performance for apache servers. Granted, this is probably unimportant for those who have OC-12 lines, but for those of us who are limited to a T1 and who have an overabundance of CPU power - the tradeoff is good. Remember that CPU power is usually a single capital expense, but an upgrade of bandwidth is a recurring cost. God, I can't believe that I have to pay attention to this now! How'd I get stuck with financial analysis???
