I know this is asked occasionally, but I can't seem to find the answer. I've actually had 3 people come to me this week that were confused why the A record for some hostname they have wasn't getting updated weeks after the change was made, and in all the cases it was because the hostname was one that the GTLD servers have listed as an NS record for some domains.aka, "stale HOST records / glue in the TLD parent", a FAQ, and very confusing until you learn to put it in your "usual suspects" list My question, then, is how to get the GTLD servers to use the updated IP address?registrant for stalehost.domain.com must go to registrar for domain.com and change/delete the A record. I've referred these people to the registrars of their domains good for this operation, they MUST go to the registrar where the domain is registered.but what if they use Registrar A We don't care about Registrar B's local records (unless registrar B really IS the registrar for the domain)., but Registrar B is the one that lists this hostname as an NS record If the registrar is NOT the registrar for the domain, then whatever he has in his local, stale records (DNS records? or admin records?) for a domain are of no consequence to Internet since he has no authority to upload host.domain.com A records to the registry.
