According to the ELink admin guide, there is no default password. My guess is there's a jumper inside to flash it. There also could be a backdoor. Many larscom products use the backdoor password "Surely", but I don't think the integrator would because it was designed by Vina. You might call the support line. VINA eLink Administrator’s Guide P/N 040-205093-00 Rev. B1 2-25 Assigning Login Names and Passwords When you initially access the eLink, no login name and password are required. The eLink immediately displays the Main menu prompt for the eLink Utility. For security reasons, you should configure the eLink with login names and passwords. Two privilege levels, carrier and user, are available when logging into the eLink. The two privilege levels offer different sets of available commands. • Carrier privilege allows unlimited access to all configuration and monitoring commands. You may set one login name with Carrier privilege. Carrier privilege is designed for use by a limited number of individuals permitted to configure the eLink. The use of this privilege should be carefully restricted. • User privilege allows limited access to the eLink. You may set one login name with User privilege. By default, User privilege allows access to a group of commands. See Table 2-16 for a list of the commands in the default group. To configure the User privilege with access to additional commands, use the GroupFeature and CustomFeature commands in the Access submenu. The login name and password verification utility is case sensitive. When logging in, you must enter the name and password strings exactly as configured, using upper- and/or lower-case characters. After three failed attempts you cannot log in for five minutes. After 20 failed attempts, you cannot log in for one hour. This problem can be bypassed by rebooting the eLink. After five minutes of inactivity, you are automatically logged off. Note: If the situation requires that you not reboot the eLink, you can bypass the log-in counter by logging in via a different means of access. If you are using the RS-232 port or Telnet for access, use a Web Browser instead. If you are using a Web Browser, log in via the RS-232 port or Telnet instead. Passwords are stored using one-way encryption. If a customer loses or forgets the user password, you must log in with carrier privilege and set the user password. However, if you Chapter 2: Configuring the VINA eLink lose or forget the carrier password, you must contact VINA Technologies, Inc. at 1-888-247- 5986 for assistance. > I Need a way to default Vina/Larscom ELINK to original config. > Unit is password protected, I don't need to crack password, Just default > unit for my use. ---------------------------------------------- Chris Hoaglin Primary Rate Data Comm./Networking/Telecommunications Specialty/Legacy parts support/DEC/Compaq E-Mail: Chris@...
