Re: [isp-bgp] splitting the network and BGP

I second the #2 slot, I am announcing a /24 out of Sprint's IP space and have no transit service from sprint at all, this has not caused the customer of mine who the /24 is allocated to any reachability issues at all. In short, while it may not be pretty, it does work.

Hmmm.. I wouldn't sell a setup like that for any of my customers.
What will you say to your customer that day your transit provider implements
correct prefix-filters, based on the route-object of this network..
"This network" could easily have a route object indicating that it will originate from "his" ASN. I've had zero problems with this through Verio (who builds their filters by route-objects).

FWIW, a customer of mine had several /24s out of C&W's space. I told him he'd have 90 days to keep using it after he left C&W. I started checking on him at the 90 day mark, and just pulled the plug at the 180 day mark (he stopped replying to my emails; leave me in the dark, and I...). He said he had reachability problems from that point forward through his other connection to Level3.
