Take your ego Mr. CTO and shove it !! Thats not it at all, I just could not quite tell from your post. It was a little brief and you answered "Yes" to a question I asked: "Is there an RFC or BCP out there that you can point me to that says its now a best practice to have a public ASN when multihoming to the *same* ISP ?" When you answered "yes" to this question it makes it seem like you were supporting the other poster who said "get an ASN". I.e. a public one. Answering yes to this meant to me that you agreed that ISPs have started to require or want folks to get an ASN in call cases, even when one is not needed. So it was hard to tell which side you were on in my view. If you had said "no", or "no, you don't need an ASN, these docs support your case for not using a public ASN when one is not needed ...", that would have been more clear to me personally, thats all. I was not complaining, just re-stating in more detail my first post as I admit that may have been a little brief and not everyone may have understood exactly what I was talking about. We're all busy, sometimes we write short emails that can get mis-interpreted by others. I know the RFCs and the BCPs, i have been using them for a while indeed. I guess I should have stated I was asking the group for an opinion on an issue or a "has anyone else seen a change in this policy by large ISPs" moreso than a typical "how do I configure my router to do x" type of question. No harm intended, I was appreciative of the help that did come from the list. Thanks all. -jon To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
