Re: [isp-bgp] BGP and policy based routing question

OK, well you'll have a better chance of getting it to work then ;)

But, not much better. It's standard policy for just about every
transit provider to block advertisements that are worse than a
/24. There is basically zero chance of you advertising a /26
from provider A's space into provider B and having it ...

1) accepted by provider B
2) accepted by provider B's peers and/or transit providers

Looks like you need to go to you local RIR and get some portable
address space of your own rather than using provider A's space.

I didn't mean to confuse everyone. They are not RFC1918 addresses. I just
used those addresses as examples of what my current configuration is. We
have numbers that are reachable from the internet. The /26 block is only
reachable from one of our upstream providers and we are looking for a
solution to that problem.

Hope this helps resolve some of the confusion.

We just multihomed our network and set up BGP. When we started our ISP

years ago we were assigned a small block of 64 ip addresses from ISP 1,
192.168.1.0/26, for our use. We put our first name server on this
network.
Now that we have set up BGP this block is unreachable for some
networks from
the internet.

I can assure you that the address block you mentioned isn't reachable
from
anywhere on the net. Perhaps the original up-stream is providing NAT
services for that block? As I'm sure you are aware RFC1918 address are
private and _should_ not be routed over the public network. Most ISPs
will block both the route advertisements and any traffic from those
source
addresses.
