You would be loosing the ease of load balancing. The advantage of the Link Proof that it load balances automatically, where with BGP you would have to "tweak" it manually all the time. Also real load balancing would be effective only if you have many users and they are all going out on the internet with different ip addresses (and not via a single hide-nat address) BGP works well only on a highly statistical network (with many users and destinations) Arie -----Original Message----- From: Eagle, Rob [mailto:rob.eagle@...] Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2004 9:10 PM To: isp-bgp@isp-bgp.com Subject: [isp-bgp] BGP advantages Our company is currently looking at alternatives to our Radware LinkProof solution. We are multi-homed, have address space from both ISPs and not AS number. I have always looked toward standards such as BGP to be my first choice, but am having a hard time convincing the project team. Is BGP that hard to get in? What are the advantages of a BGP solution over a DNS solution for multi-homing? What are we losing? Thanks in advance for any information provided.
