Try sh ip bgp rib and it should output the reason for the rib failure. 
In my case, rib failures were due to an OSPF route existing in the RIB 
with a preferred administrative distance.  Making sure the OSPF routes 
weren't there (or making sure the BGP routes weren't there...) cleaned 
it up.

In your case, you might have a next hop reachability problem.  Perhaps 
the path to the neighbor was being seen over a BGP route after each 
convergence attempt, which would take down the session (must have 
non-BGP reachability for the BGP TCP session to survive).
