Hi Erik, A Summit 1i does not have official support for 256 MB memory, but you can remove the 128 MB memory module and install a 256 MB module, this will work. An other option is create a filter on your Summit and drop all prefixes less that a /24 Best regards, Daniel van Wijnen Website: http://www.rokscom.nl E-mail: sales@....nl Phone +31 (0)35 626 40 50 Fax +31 (0)35 626 40 55 Rokscom Internet BV, PoBox 1336 - 1200 BH Hilversum, The Netherlands -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: Erik Hensema [mailto:hensema@...] Verzonden: woensdag 16 juni 2004 17:13 Aan: isp-bgp@isp-bgp.com Onderwerp: [isp-bgp] What small switch/router for full bgp routing table Hi, We're a small starting ISP on a tight budget, and are looking for a switch/router for full bgp peering with abovenet (they advertise 140,000 routes or so) and peering with the about 140 isps on the ams-ix. Currently we think the Extreme Networks Summit 1i will suit our needs, but I'm concerned it may have insufficient memory (128MB) to hold the full bgp routing table. As far as I know the memory cannot be upgraded. Any advice would be greatly appriciated. If the summit 1i won't cut it, this is what we need: - 8 1 gbit ports, of which at least two are fiber ports - redundancy/failover (we plan on buying two identical routers) - must be able to route 1 gbit traffic Most equipment we look at is way to big/expensive for our needs :-/ -- Erik Hensema / Systeembeheer IBN Media Groep ************************************************ ISPCON FALL 2004 - Santa Clara Convention Center ************************************************ New Keynote Speakers just announced: Jeff Pulver, President & CEO of Pulver.com Nigel Ballard, Wireless Director, Matrix Networks Use discount code EBF04 now and pay only $350!
