Hi The best way would be to assign a community for all prefixes belonging to a group (in the ingress BGP session), and then filter using the community on the egress BGP session Arie -----Original Message----- From: Xiaoliang Zhao [mailto:xzhao@...] Sent: Wednesday, May 19, 2004 11:51 PM To: isp-bgp@isp-bgp.com Cc: Xiaoliang Zhao Subject: [isp-bgp] configure customer prefixes Hi, all, We are doing some BGP simulation research and we encountered a policy configuration problem. Basically, we want to configure a BGP router so that it only announces its customers' prefixes but not its peers' prefixes. Now, my question is what is the best current practice to identify an AS numbers as a customer ASN or a peer ASN? We are thinking the following two options. 1. Use a list to include all customer AS numbers. This sounds a straightforward approach, but will it be a problem for a large ISP, which may have thousands customers? 2. Is there any alternative way to do that, for example, using certain community attribute value? or something similar? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
