Tulip Rasputin wrote: Somebody would (er...might) want to do that if they had multiple pipes in different geographic areas, and knew that their providers carried reasonable AND COMPARABLE "distance" information in their MED values. This became a little simpler with additive MED, but not necessarily easy or predictable. Setting outbound MED to match the internal IGP metric is a start, but I've moved to a 10Gb reference bandwidth which would theoretically mess up the comparison with another ISP.I am aware of how we can configure the boxes so that the MEDs are always compared, even across the ASes. What i wanted to know was, *why* would somebody ever want to do that? I would have to say that I somewhat echo Danny's statement that I'm not a strong supporter of MEDs. I'm experimenting with them in my lab and production networks (I know, I know...), but not seeing significant benefits and limited ability to put them to work. pt To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
