Tulip Rasputin wrote: EBGP is most frequently configured between interface addresses, but there are several reasons to configure between loopbacks:Folks, Does anyone here run EBGP on loopbacks? I have this customer who wants to run EBGP using loopbacks. Dont we always use loopbacks with only the IBGP peering? 1) With parallel independent (i.e. not MLPPP or similar) links between common routers, each side can twiddle the load balancing independent of BGP. 2) With parallel independent links between common routers, it keeps the BGP RIB smaller since only one route gets added, instead of one per link. 3) Avoids bugs with EBGP multipath (not saying there are, but just a potential reason). 4) Provides security through obscurity for the recent TCP/BGP vulnerability, since it's tougher for a miscreant to guess the address(es) to attack. pt To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
