What do you mean "my customer is not ready for that"?
In order to get to the Internet, the router will need a route to the
Internet. Whether that's one default route or all BGP routes is up to
you to control.
If router C only knows about directly connected routes, it's only going
to help out the directly connected networks.
So yes, it's commonly held that all transit routers must participate in
BGP. The other option is BGP at the egress points, and MPLS across your
transit routers, but that's outside the scope of this list (and not
easily addressed in the confines of a list).

Hello,
I have 2 routers (say A and B) at the edge of my network talking EBGP with other Autonomous system
routers, and who are in turn connected via an intermediate non BGP speaking router (say C). This
configuration is possible as i may have IBGP routers connected multiple hops away.
Say A learns 10.0.0.0/8 from its EBGP peer. It advertises this to B via IBGP. My doubt is that how
will the traffic coming at B destined for 10.0.0.0/8 reach A, when C has no knowledge of
10.0.0.0/8? The reason why i am saying that C has no knowledge of 10.0.0.0/8 is because we have
not redistributed BGP into IGP (which has over the time been proven harmful) and we are not
running IBGP on C.
I suggested putting a default route on C, but my customer is not ready for that.
Any clues/suggestions to make this thing work?
Regards,
Rasputin
