Hi list, Just got the ISP-BGP welcome message so I thought I'd be a good boy and post a short intro to myself :-) I work for a start-up Dutch Internet Exchange that's in the middle of a major network expansion and we rely heavily on all kinds of neat BGP tricks to keep ourselves and our customers happy. Our core network currently consists of a routing backbone on a Froundry NetIron 400 and a NetIron 800 with a Riverstone RS8000, an Extreme BD6808 and a BigIron 8000 as aggregation switches in different geographical places to get traffic to our router core and break out traffic to customer coming from the core. Now I can already hear everyoone thinking "why don't they use Juniper or Cisco for their Layer 3", but we're very pleased with the NetIron's performance and the combined Oc3/Oc12 PoS-blades alone are lifesafers in our network. The Extreme and Riverstone currently only run as route-reflector clients on the NetIrons to do some basic local peering as necessary and everything is as smooth as silk. Like I said, we're doing a lot of new stuff and I think I'll be needing some advice along the way so I thought this would be a good place to start in case of unforseen challenges. Ofcourse, if I can help someone else along the way, that's a nice bonus. And in case you all wondered, yes I have worked with Cisco and Juniper a lot in the past, but it never hurts to try something new :-) Regards, -- Erik Haagsman Network Architect We Dare BV tel: +31(0)10-7507008 fax: +31(0)10-7507005 http://www.we-dare.nl ------------------------ANNOUNCEMENT--------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Solving Spam With Sender Accountability << Blacklists, whitelists, spam trap networks, baysian filters and more.
