As a followup to the 6509, I have also been looking at the combination
of the 7513 with a Catalyst 5500. We would be uplinking the unit with a
GEIP and load up the rest with 2 FEIP2-DSW cards (total of 4 FE).
My concern is the backplane only doing 2GBit and forwarding 2Mpps. This
seems like it can be maxed by 2 GigE cards. Also, after doing some
reading, I found that the max thoroughput on the GigE was about 400Mbps
(with a vip2-50, RSP4 w/128MB). I have not found updated papers to do
comparisons over the newer hardware that is available.
Is there an advantage of running a separate router (75xx w/ 2 RSP8's,
1GEIP, 2 FEIP2-DSW) linked to a Catalyst 55xx over running the 6509 w 2
sup2/MSFC2's and the same amount of FE ports?
Thanks
Jeff
