[isp-bgp] Re: BGP on Enterasys 8600

I´m the new network admin of Avati. Here they have a /20 class.

First I remove my default route:
negate 23
save active

As soon I did it my Internet comes down.
So I ask you. Why? I´m using BGP , why my traffic stopped?
First of all: you can still use a default route if you have BGP. If you have BGP routes for the entire internet, the default route shouldn't do anything, but you can keep it around as a backup.

static {

               gateway 200.162.159.2

                 gateway 200.162.159.2
                 ;
         200.162.150.0 masklen 24
                 gateway 200.162.159.2
                 ;
         200.162.144.0 masklen 20
                 gateway 127.0.0.1
                 noinstall
                 ;

                 gateway 200.162.159.2
                 ;

Hm, I don't understand this part... Why are all those /24s there and why is there "noinstall" with your /20?

import proto bgp autonomoussystem 15180 {
        0.0.0.0 masklen 0  between 1 and 8  preferen
Could this mean that you only accept routes with prefix lengths between 1 and 8? In that case "show ip bgp" will only give you a few A nets. If you don't use a defaultk you can't filte incoming BGP routes, you need them all.
