[isp-bgp] Re: Discontiguous AS
Mario,
local-as feature should be used in the opposite situation really.
Say if you have AS111 and AS222 and are planning to migrate them both to
be AS111, you might run into problems with peers hanging off AS222, which
have to change their session to be peering with 111.
If they do not do this at the same time as your migration, sessions will
go down.
So, once you made one big AS111, you can still make your peers believe
they are peering with AS222 by setting the local-as feature on neighbor-level.
Then you can co-ordinate with old 222-peers to change appropiately, if at
all:-/
Don't see any benefit/solution in using this in the situation as John
described it...
