RE: [isp-bandwidth] Om Malik supports throttling, gets flamed
I'm so sorry that you experienced this. This happened with Level3 five
years ago because they were trying to bully Cogent...hoping that other
top ISP would jump on the bandwagon. Others did not and Level3 ended up
with egg on their face 72 hours later while making an apology to all
involved.

At any rate, your SLA should have stated that you get 1 day of service
credit for every 15 consecutive mins you are down. You would have had to
open a ticket with tech support.

Anyway...I'm glad you feel better now!

Sorry to say this, but it still bothers me.

And when Level3 dropped Cogent you have nowhere else to send your
traffic so
you drop my packets for 2 days, and offer 0 credits to me. I am a little
guy
and still have multiple connections to fulfill my promise to my
customers so
we were not hurt as much as others. Still...
That is why we no longer use Cogent- forget about all the statistics and
numbers- in real life they mean nothing if you don't perform.

There, I feel better now.

Cogent will not be one of them! Cogent's competitors dislike Cogent
because we are ranked among the top ISPs in such a short period of time.
You can call us the Jeff Gordon of Telecom!

Our services are not cheap....Yes, On-Net customers can get bandwidth
for $10/meg and that's because our entire network was developed for IP
traffic only. Our competitors wish they had the financial flexibility
Cogent has! Cogent is EBITDA and cash flow positive....

Customers pay $1000 for 100meg and they get 100meg!

Or not. Let those selling below cost go under. One can hope that,
eventually, the lemmings of finance all splatter or drown.

You mean the way Cogent did, oh wait... Instead of falling off things
might
break apart in terms of levels of service as in you get what you pay
for!
