wouldn't it make sense to set prices as "$x for x Mbps and x GB monthly,
$0.10 per MB over"? ISPs would have to allow customers to see how much
throughput they've used, and to give users the option to turn off the pipe
before paying overages.

And "we" (as an industry) have continually pushed the unlimited thing,
all the while taking the assumption that not everyone at the buffet is
gonna be a fat ass...

Trouble is, when you clamp down on the fat asses, that's what starts
to get you in trouble.  My take?  Let them go.  You don't have to
provide service to someone you don't want to provide service to.  If
they are using too much (regardless of the unlimited thing), let them
go.
